Santas Fun Run&Walk

On December 14, 2008 Sacco took part in the charity marathon “Santas Fun Run & Walk” in the Old Riga that was organized by the „Riga International Rotary Club”. All participants were given Santa Claus costumes and they had to run a definite route through the Old Riga.
The aim of this event was to collect money for the purchase of Mobile care medical center for children medical care.
Mobile care medical center will provide services in custom-built 12 metre long, up-to-dated trailers that are specially designed for providing paediatric health care. In the vehicle there are:

• two patient examination rooms;
• a laboratory;
• reception and medical records areas;

Mobile care medical center in cooperationwith Latvian Children's Hospital will visit countryside of Latvia and will:

• provide health care services to Latvian children;
• reduce dependence on expensive hospital emergency services;
• ensure continuity of health care when the patient must be sent to a primary care physician and dentist;
• savethe money families spend on transport costsand examination costs.

Consideringthat this was the first time for such an event to be held in Latvia we had a double pleasure to participate in it. The event was very successful due to the number of participants that exceeded the expectations of organizers as well as a huge interest from the mass media.
