SACCO has been supporting the orienteering club „Azimuts” that was founded in 1990 already for several years. President of the club is the champion of Latvian and Baltic States veterans Aldis Lapiņš.
The new generation of the club „Azimuts” should be especially mentioned because they are gaining considerable results in the European Youth and World Junior Championships, World Schoolchildren Sport Games, as well as in the Cup of the Baltic Sea countries:
Ilze Lapiņa, Liene Brūvele, Artūrs Pauliņš, Ilmārs Ķauķītis, Dāvis Gaigals, Renāte Lapiņa, Amanda Spunde, Santa Rullīte – these are only a few of the young members of the orienteering club who are very perspective and got medals in different local and international competitions.
Each year the club „Azimuts” is organizing the competition „Smiltenes Small Cup”.
In addition the club „Azimuts” in cooperation with its supporters each year is organizing Smiltene „8th CBR Cup” and „BAF award competition”.
Already for the 31st season there is going on the popular competition show taking place on Wednesday evenings under the name „Azimuts”.
With the help of SACCO owner Gvido Smiltiņš there were introduced the electronic marking in control points in orienteering sports that is performed by using the most up-to-dated system in the world - from German company „SPORTident”.
Preciseness, concentration and purposefulness – these are the characteristics that joins SACCO and the orienteering sports.
