Speedway is a kind of motorsport where participants drive special motorcycles. Race takes place in a stadium with a special coverage of slag or gravel with the total length of 400 m. In order to achieve higher speed and better results sportsmen lead the motorcycle in a drift and thus they drive through all the turn. Motorcycles are operated with methanol, they don’t have brakes and have only one gear. The beginning of Speedway in the world was in the year 1930. In Latvia this sport is known since 1963. In Latvia Speedway races take place since the year 2001. Latvia was one of the first Soviet Union countries which began to organize this kind of races.

In the year 2006 during a race Andrejs got a serious leg injury and due to that he could not continue his carrer as sportsman for two years.

Now the 2009 season is finished and the team from Daugavpils achieved good results and got silver medals in 1st league in Poland.
This was a good season also for Andrejs Koroļevs.
